Coal was first worked at Ulan in the 1920s. Today, the complex has both open cut and underground operations operating 24 hours a day and includes a coal handling a preparation plant, conveyors, a drag line, stockpiles, a rail to port facility, administration buildings, and an underground access point.
The approved $1 billion expansion of the Ulan Coal Complex will make it one of the most modern and progressive coal mines in Australia, with state-of-the art facilities and significant new career opportunities.
