Social involvement plan

Ulan Community Open Day

The Ulan Mine Complex operate in accordance with its Social Involvement Plan (SIP). The SIP was developed to provide a practical management tool for effective stakeholder engagement. The SIP assists UCML management to build and maintain relationships, trust and credibility with the local community. The SIP includes specific objectives and techniques for on-going communication between UCML and stakeholders and details the company’s annual community support program, which includes donations, sponsorship, and in-kind support for a range of community, educational and environmental initiatives. As a considerable contributor to the community through its operations, UCML promotes community sustainability where possible. This is through consideration of support to charities and other not for profit organisations in each area of operation. Community support focuses on:

  • Enterprise & Job Creation
  • Environment
  • Education
  • Social & Community Development
  • Health
  • Culture & Art

As a significant landholder in the Upper Catchment of the Goulburn River and a major employer in the Mudgee region, UCML has an ongoing interest in the health and sustainability of the area. To this end, UCML actively seeks to support local regeneration and other environmental enhancement projects.

UCML has also provided regular presentations and mine tours and participates in interactive discussion sessions with teachers, pupils and university students.
